Stop the Bullets- Understanding, Preventing and Mitigating Violence in the Workplace

Violence in the workplace is like a bullet fired at a target.  The bullet may be stopped, if it is never loaded, if the firing pin is removed or even after it is fired, if there are deflectors in the trajectory along the way to slow or stop the bullet.  Workplace violence is often the end of a path marked by indicators and signs of the violent trajectory along the way. The key to preventing the violence is the ability to read the signs, recognize the motivators and contributing factors, and intervening early in the journey to destruction.  

Utilizing current data on violence in the workplace and prevention/intervention techniques this course will prepare the attendee to address the potential of violence.  Using lecture, video and practical exercises the course reveals the signposts along the way to violence, all of which may stop the violence before it occurs.  A five step process will be introduced to attendees who may, use the process to implement a prevention program in their workplace or educate the community in how to prevent and mitigate violence at work. Although the external threat will be briefly covered, the internal threat is the focus of this course.

This training is appropriate for anyone who is concerned about, or responsible for, safety in the workplace.  The course may be especially useful to law enforcement officer who are called upon to present workplace violence prevention to the community or business..
