Certifications

Certifications are often sought by those in specialized fields.  In fact, most of our instructors have been certified in their particular field with a recognized certification.

We value certifications which prove that the applicant has acquired the knowledge and special skills, and have demonstrated proficiency. As such,we provide a realistic crime prevention through environmental design certification (cpted) program, described below.

There are many adequate Crime Prevention specialists (CPS) certifications available through private vendors, non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and association and thus we do not offer a CPS certification. Many of the certifying entities recognize our courses for credit in their certification training requirements.

Certified LAw enforcement Crime Prevention through environmental design Practitioner (Le-cpted)

We recognize those crime prevention practitioners who meet the prescribed requirements for our specialty certification - Law Enforcement Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioners. (LE-CPTED)

This recognition is based upon knowledge obtained in the field of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), situational crime prevention, target hardening, security assessments of facilities, and advanced coursework in understanding these topics.

While our practitioner certification is much more difficult for us than simply grading an exam, we feel it necessary to provide the practitioner, and those they serve, with assurances that the LE-CPTED Practitioner is well equipped and skilled in applying CPTED.

We value certifications that meet relevant standards, proving that the applicant has acquired the knowledge and special skills. Rather than merely attending a class and passing an examination, the applicant must also display a certain level of expertise in the field for which certified. We do not believe that all certifications are equally valuable to every individual but rather should be tailored to what the PRACTITIONER’s role will be. It is for that reason that we offer the Law Enforcement Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner certification (LE-CPTED). While we do not restrict the certification to law enforcement, our certification is designed toward the role that law enforcement, security, and government employees will most often play in the use of CPTED.

We believe that the practitioner will advance through using the skills which we provide. Our certification is not designed for our benefit but for the benefit of those being served. To require ongoing training solely with us for a re-certification would be self-serving and unethical in our opinion. In the past we had followed the trend of recertification requirement, but as our goal is always to instill knowledge and to help the practitioner to grow, we realize the best teacher is experience and self advancement. Therefore in 2022, we made the LE-CPTED Practitioner certification a lifetime certification.

We encourage all practitioners to attend CPTED related training and to remain current, but they should determine the training that serves their need.

While we are a private business, requiring re-certification through forced attendance at our courses does not meet with our service to others and prevention first values.
