In recent years the use of data to solve problems, direct prevention efforts, and assist in the more effective use of dwindling resources has grown.  Larger agencies have embraced the use of data through creating part-time or full-time crime or intelligence analysis positions.  This course is designed to provide the benefit of crime analysis to those agencies without the resources to hire a dedicated analyst.  The training offered will allow all attendees to understand the basics needed to conduct their own limited analysis without the need for special software, thus providing the benefits of crime analysis to the locality.

This course is NOT appropriate for the experienced Crime Analyst.

Students should bring a laptop computer equipped with Excel for use in a practical exercise.
